Wednesday

Something good happened today.

You are sitting with it now, in the way you sit with things — a little to the side of it, watching it. The thing itself is good. You know it is good because the part of you that evaluates things has evaluated it and found it good.

And there is also something else. Arriving at the same time, from a slightly different direction. Not the opposite of good. Something that does not have a name in the same way good has a name.

Your shoulders are up. You notice this because you are trying to take a breath and there is not quite as much room for it as there usually is.

You put the thing down — the phone, the email, the message, whatever form the good took today. You put it face-down.

You make tea. You stand at the kettle.

The shoulders come down a little when the water boils. Not all the way.

The thing is still good. You know this.

Your body already registered that.
